STARTING & CHARGING SYSTEM

The starting system can be thought of as the vehicle’s electrical system. There are several functions that occur before the cranking of your engine.
When you ignite the ignition switch a small amount of current passes through to the neutral safety switch, then to the starter relay which allows a high flow of current to pass through the batterycables to the starter motor. The starter wheel engages the flywheel and cranks the engine. The charging system consists of the alternator that generates the electricity stored in the battery.
Overtime components of the starting and charging system become worn and need to be replaced
